This week, we were proud to have all three of our Premier Tennis teams - the Girls’, Boys’ and Mixed teams - make the final of the National Tennis Championships held here in Auckland. After a week of challenging play, the Premier Tennis Boys were crowned New Zealand Champions, with the Girls and Mixed teams taking 2nd place nationally!
In the final round, the Boys’ team beat Scots College in a very close match and in a nerve-wracking finish, they won on count back of games to win the New Zealand title.
The Girls’ team were unable to beat the top seeds, Westlake Girls and placed 2nd, with the Mixed team also placing 2nd, losing to St Andrew’s College.
Saint Kentigern was the only college competing this week to have teams in all three competitions and it took some seriously hard work from the players throughout the week to make it to the final round.
Well done to all the students but, in particular, our New Zealand champions, the Premier Boys!
