Medals for Boys' School at North Island Primary Ski Championships

September 10, 2014 at 1:22 PM

The Boys School Ski team had a very successful week at the North Island Primary Ski Championships held at Whakapapa Ski Field last week.  Our ski team had a fantastic first day on the Giant Slalom course with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placings.  This put the team in a very strong position for the second day of racing, and the boys did extremely well and competed hard in the Dual Slalom events.  Overall, the Saint Kentigern Boys’ School Ski Team finished in 3rd place receiving the Bronze medal, with individual medals of Gold to Gibson Neville, Silver to Miller Stewart and Bronze to Nate Gilbertson. Well done boys!

The snowboard team also had a very successful week of competition that started with the Boarder Cross event.  This is a knockout event that puts four riders up against each other to see who is the fastest down the course.  All our riders did extremely well to make the quarter finals, and Bronson Gleye finished 2nd overall.  These results put the team in a strong position for the Dual Slalom event where the boys showed amazing courage and determination and won six of the eight races.  Overall, the Saint Kentigern Snowboard Team finished in 3rd place receiving the Bronze medal, with an individual Silver medal going to Bronson Gleye.
