DSC_08371.jpgFollowing on from the College cross country event, 42 runners qualified to compete in the Auckland Secondary Schools Cross Country Championship held at Pukekohe A&P Showgrounds last week. The runners braced the wild weather that dished up  sunshine, wind and downpours which resulted in wet and muddy conditions.  This was the first time that this event has been run at this venue and everyone enjoyed the challenging muddy track.

At times the wind and rain was pretty hard work, especially when the Intermediate Girls were hammered with a huge downpour during their race.

Saint Kentigern had a good turn out across all age groups with the highlight being the dominance in the Senior Girls Race where Isabella Richards, Hanna English and Grace Wood together led the first there places during the first lap and didn’t look back, leaving the rest of the opposition behind throughout the race.  This of course led to gold in the 3 Person Team and 6 Person Team for the Senior Girls.  In the Junior Boys, Dylan McCullough was the only other individual medal with a silver.  The Senior Boys raced really well to get bronze in the 3 Person and 6 Person team, as did the Intermediate Girls who were also awarded a bronze in the 6 person team
