We are delighted to learn that two of our Year 7 students at the Girls’ School have been selected as finalists at the Remuera ‘Win With Words’ writing competition.
Sophia Pettigrove won 3rd place and Sarah Peart was placed runner up in in the Year 7 Group prize giving held at the Remuera Library last week.
The Competition was set up by the Library in support of encouraging young writers and is aimed at Year 7 and 8 students.
As part of this initiative a writing workshop was held where selected students from the local schools were invited to attend to discuss writing with well-known author Kate di Goldi.
Following the workshop the students had to submit at least one piece of writing for the ‘Win With Words’ competition.
Thanks to the support from local businesses who donated prizes, and the Orakei Local Board this competition is now a regular feature in the community.
