Despite the challenging conditions, the Middle School girls put in a stellar effort at this year’s Athletics Day at Lloyd Elsmore Park. The girls were running, jumping and throwing against gusty wind speeds of 56km/h and really had to put in that extra effort to propel themselves over the finish line.            

Despite a few breaks when the rain came, the Year 4-6 girls thoroughly enjoyed their morning at the Pakuranga Athletic Club. Many students managed to score their personal best times and distances, proving to themselves the recipe of hard work and determination gets results.

Team spirit was alive and well with the girls fully showing their support for their team mates as they waited patiently for their turn at each event. Family members and friends watched in anticipation from the sidelines and also encouraged the girls on.

The Junior girls will have their opportunity to put their best effort forward next week at the Year 0-3 Athletics Day, which is being held at the Boys’ School on November 3rd.

Well done to all students who participated and to those who now qualify for the Remuera and Eastern Zone competitions.
