Farewell Mr Burgess

September 14, 2012 at 12:14 PM

In the final days of Term 3, the community, staff and boys, all had their opportunity to say their farewells to Mr Geoff Burgess as he stepped down as Principal of Saint Kentigern School; the school he had led for almost 19 years. With Geoff’s patent love of education, and boys’ education in particular, moving on was not an easy decision for him to make. Many times during his tenure, parents have heard Geoff espouse that ‘boys need an adventure to go on’ and true to his word, Geoff has found a new adventure as CEO of the Halberg Trust; a position that will offer a change of direction and a new challenge in his final working years.

Just prior to his departure, Geoff’s official portrait was unveiled. Painted by Craig Primrose, one of New Zealand's leading contemporary artists, Geoff's portrait in oil will join the gallery of former Headmasters on display in the Board Room in Roselle House. Craig also painted the portrait of Warren Peat, former Executive Head at the College and posthumously painted a portrait of the Reverend Dr Adam MacFarlan, the first Saint Kentigern Head.
