Congratulations to the Boys’ School A Chess team who have qualified for a place at the Chess Power Intermediate Schools National finals.

The A team of Harrison and Alexander Coates, Kevin He, Tarun and Bhevan Lewis performed well in the recent Central Auckland Intermediate Chess competition. Gaining third place overall, they earned a place at the national competition, to be held in Auckland in October.

Tarun was our top player on the day, gaining distinction for winning five of his six games. Harrison was awarded with excellence for winning four of his six games.

Of note, Alexander is a Year 6 student and Bhevan a Year 5 student and they are both playing some fine chess at Intermediate level.

Well done boys, we are very proud of your achievement.
