College Year 7 Students Connect At Camp

March 18, 2016 at 3:19 PM

The College Year 7 students spent this week ‘getting away from it all’ while camping at Chosen Valley in the Bombay Hills. The camp provided an opportunity for the new College students who have come from various primary schools to get to know each other, develop friendships and be introduced to the Saint Kentigern values and expectations. To help them do this, the camp was a no phone zone! While there were a few initial grumbles, the students soon came to enjoy being unshackled from the technology burden!

The week featured an action-packed programme of activities, including bush walking, archery, flying fox, rope maze and orienteering. Cooperation and responsibility were developed as the students worked together on duties such as table preparation and clean up before and after each meal and keeping their living quarters tidy. The students slept in cottages and cabins for three nights with one spent in a tent for the true outdoors experience. The camp has set the students up well for their first year at the College and brought them together as a cohort as they embark on their Saint Kentigern journey.
