Nikolai Sorensen, a 3rd year product design student from AUT University is currently in residence in the Jack Paine Centre at the College.
He is working on his last brief for his degree and his project aims to design a structure that addresses how tents have become a disposable item in modern life. Nikolai is seeking a solution to the decline in value of this classic New Zealand product through a return to basics and a focus on magic of the great outdoors.
While in residence, Nikolai is talking to and interacting with student groups throughout the Jack Paine Centre, particularly those who study Design and Technology. Students are able to observe first-hand the design processes and procedures he uses to research and develop industrial products.
This is another instalment in the on-going link between Saint Kentigern College and the Faculty of Design and creative technologies at AUT University.
