College Musicians Competing at KBB

August 13, 2015 at 11:41 AM

Five premier music ensembles from the College are putting months’ worth of rehearsing on display at the KBB Music Festival next week. The festival brings together the best secondary school musicians and bands from across Auckland to compete and have the opportunity to perform in professional venues. The Holy Trinity and St Mary’s cathedrals will play host to more than 130 groups from more than 40 schools vying for prizes in a range of categories.

The Saint Kentigern community also has the chance to see and hear all five of our entries, involving around 100 musicians, at the College Showcase Evening being held this year at the Genesis Energy Theatre at Vodafone Events Centre from 7pm on Monday.

Our bands are also playing individually in the festival at the following times:

  • Sinfonia, Monday at 12.30pm, Holy Trinity
  • Symphony Orchestra, Tuesday at 2.30pm, Holy Trinity
  • Chamber Orchestra, Tuesday at 7pm, St Mary’s
  • Stage Band, Thursday at 10am, St Mary’s
  • Concert Band, Friday at 2.30pm, Holy Trinity

Entry is free to all events. We wish everyone involved the best of luck and hope to see you there!
