Well known on the Saint Kentigern stage, our College Deputy Head Boy, Lloyd David, makes his first foray into professional television work this Thursday at 7pm on TV2’s long running drama, Shortland Street. Lloyd first came to the attention of Shortland Street producers after he initially auditioned for a role they were casting in which he was unsuccessful.
However, they were so impressed with Lloyd’s show reel that they decided to create a role for him as a school boy rugby player. On the strength of his performance in the first two weeks of filming, Lloyd is excited to report that his contract has been extended which will see him filming further scenes later in the year.
Lloyd has proved to be an incredibly gifted actor over the years, shining in last year’s production of The Crucible, taking a lead role in this year’s musical, Blood Brothers and taking on the title role of Othello when this year’s drama production opens next week. He follows in the footsteps of former 1990 Head Boy, Blair Strang who made his acting debut with Shortland Street and now has a lead role in TV1’s drama, ‘Nothing Trivial.’
Well done, Lloyd, we’ll be sure to be watching!
