Both the Year 7 and Year 8 Boys’ School teams topped the Eastern Zone Cross Country at Churchill Park.
The weather was perfect for cross country, warm with a little bit of cloud cover. The track is a mixture of hills, flat, gravel and tar which suits our boys’ running style perfectly.
Race orders were once again put in place for the boys to work in ‘running pods.’ This encourages groups of runners to support each other over the course with a goal to try and win the overall teams’ competition. With points for places combined, both the Year 7 and Year 8 boys’ teams stormed home to 1st place in the teams section beating King’s and Sacred Heart. Individually, Lev Gorb and Brodey Warren both placed 3rd in their event.
Both teams will now be heading to the Inter-Zone Cross Country in Muriwai to take on the best in Auckland. Well done boys!
