A group of boys in Year 8 have a newfound respect for what it means to be a Preschool teacher! As part of their service programme, a group of senior boys spent time offering assistance at Saint Kentigern Preschool; the first time any of the students from the Boys’ School have paid a visit. They discovered that looking after little ones all day requires patience, empathy and plenty of energy!
It didn’t take long for the older boys to settle into activities and soon they were reading books, playing games, helping with maths and artwork, and even joined in on mat time quickly learning the songs and actions. They were surprised to discover that the preschoolers sit down each day to a freshly cooked lunch and that the youngest of our Saint Kentigern students have a chance for an afternoon nap – something they viewed with a degree of envy!!
Taking action is a large part of service in the Senior School. The senior boys thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity to engage with the ‘littlies’ whilst being of assistance to the Preschool staff.
