Boys’ School Middle and Senior Cross Country

August 24, 2018 at 4:31 PM

In a week when cross country made the national news – creating a great deal of debate on the airwaves when a South Island school made the run optional – our Saint Kentigern boys, in Years 4-8, turned out in force to give it their best shot. Whether running came naturally, took some effort or proved a hard slog, our boys dug deep and gave it their best shot. It was encouraging to see the first home double back to support the slowest runners.

Held on the College campus, with races alternating with the Girls’ School, the course was firm but muddy in places – a few shoes left part way in more than one race! After brilliant, yet crisp, sunshine for Years 4-6, a bone chilling squall past through just as the Years 7&8 arrived to get their races underway. As quickly as it moved in, it passed through again and the morning finished with some compelling racing in full sun again.

Well done to all the boys for a good effort and especially to those who took podium spots. We look forward to hearing the results from the eight boys in each age group that go through to next week’s zone races.

Our Junior School boys compete next week on Thursday. They would love your support!
