After winning the Eastern Zone Hockey championship, the Boys’ School 1st XI Hockey team went on to represent the Zone at the Auckland Inter-Zone championship held at the North Harbour Stadium last week playing the best intermediate hockey teams in region.
Throughout the day the boys played five fast-paced 11 aside games but were challenged by Rosmini in the semi-finals. At full time the teams were drawn 1-1 but unfortunately were pipped by one goal, 3-2, in the penalty shoot-out.
They were up against Buckland’s Beach Intermediate in the play-offs; a team they had lost to earlier in the day. This was a hard game with the defence determined to keep their ball out of the goal. Their tactics worked with a 1-0 win to Saint Kentigern, claiming 3rd place in Auckland. Well done boys!
