This year's AIMS Games tournament was the most successful for Saint Kentigern in six years of competing. Students from the Boys' School, Girls' School and College travelled to Bay of Plenty to compete in a number of sports, as both individuals and teams.

The AIMS Games is considered the national championships for Year 7 and 8 students in the 18 sports offered. This was the largest tournament since the event was started in 2004, with more than 8000 athletes representing more than 260 schools taking part.

This was the second time Saint Kentigern has had students from all three schools involved, with the Boys' School making its debut last year. In the Netball and Girls' Football teams, players from the Girls' School and College were selected to form the strongest squad.

This year's medal haul of one gold, one silver and three bronze medals is our best yet. Boys' School student, Monty Alderson won gold in the Year 7 boys' yachting, our second-ever time on top of an AIMS Games podium.

The Boys' School Water Polo team lost just one match during the whole week, in the final to Aquinas College. Abigail Mills, from the Girls' School, won bronze in the senior girls' open trampoline. This is the first AIMS Games medal for the Girls' School!

For the College, Ema Miyaura claimed bronze in the girls' singles tennis and Daniel Persson and Sam Allias won bronze in the team tennis category for their combined results.

In addition to the medals, a number of players from team sports received individual honours. College student, Harry Lowe was named in the all-tournament boys' football team. Girl's School Head Girl, Moiralisa Aneru was named in the A Grade all-tournament Netball team. Boys' School students, Teague de Jager and Will Bason were both named in the boys' all-tournament Water Polo team and Will was declared the overall Most Valuable Player!
