After weather disrupted this year’s Boys’ School scheduled athletics events, the Junior School and Year 4 from the Middle School finally had their day on the track and field yesterday. We almost ran out of days this term to fit in the final round of athletics but in the last week of term, a sunny spot opened up and the events got underway!

With the school field out of action while construction of the new Specialist Facilities and Boys’ School Classroom block takes place, the Years 0-4 headed to Pakuranga Athletics Club at Lloyd Elsmore to get their first chance to run on a real track!

Spirits were high as the boys’ bouncing, leaping, throwing and running got underway! Giggles giggled out as the boys bounced along in hessian sacks for their sack races, there was extreme concentration as they willed the ‘egg’ to stay on their spoon and sheer exuberance as they set off sprinting down the track!

Our senior boys were on hand to assist and did a fabulous job explaining new skills to their young charges. We are also grateful to the parents who volunteered to time.

Well done to all the boys for a wonderful morning of free-spirited competition and congratulations to our Junior School and Year 4 Champions! With these events finally completed, the overall House Champions could finally be calculated with Chalmers crowned this year’s winner!
