Our College premier netball team has had an outstanding season ahead of tournament week. The first game of the Auckland competition was against MAGS – a strong team that finished 4th last season. The team came away from that game with their first win to set the tone for the rest of the season. They convincingly won 10 of the 11 games during the round robin, only narrowly losing to Avondale College by 2 points. This placed the team in second position going into the semi-final.

In the semi-final, the team played against 3rd place Howick College and finished with a strong 4 goal win. Despite a rather physical game, the team managed to always stay ahead in scoring. A win in this game secured them a place in the final.

In the final, the team played against Avondale College with a strong lead at the end of the first quarter at 11-9. In the second quarter, Avondale fought back to lead at half time at 20-18. The third quarter was goal for goal with both teams refusing to give up. Saint Kentigern won the final quarter 9-8, but had left the final push too late. The final score was 37-36 to Avondale College. Although disappointed, the team look forward to continuing their dominance in the sport especially in the UNISS (Upper North Island Secondary Schools) competition.
