2015 Triathlon Camp (20-22 Jan, 2015)

While others were still enjoying the last of their summer holiday break, our triathletes were in high gear at the annual training camp to prepare for the season ahead. Swimming, cycling and running a variety of distances in key locations around the Taupo region – both individually and combined as triathlons - was the daily programme for three days during the last week of the summer holidays for 38 College triathletes.

The annual Triathlon Intensive, now in its 15th consecutive year, challenges both newcomers and seasoned competitors alike. This year, sunny skies and hot conditions tested attendees as much as the endurance distances, and shorter efforts stressed their early season fitness levels.

The camp also proved to be an ideal opportunity to learn or refine skills and techniques within each discipline, along with combining them through efficient transitions to be competitive triathletes. Our triathletes are now well into their preparations and are looking forward to a positive racing season during the term ahead.
