DSC_3498.JPGIn a fantastic start to the year for our College 1st XI Girls Hockey squad, the girls won the Eastern Zone Preseason Hockey Tournament held on Friday through to Saturday at Auckland Hockey Centre.

The girls were up against some strong hockey teams from around Auckland, beating Pakuranga College 2-0, St Mary’s College 6-0 and Botany Downs College 6-0. They then went on to beat Westlake Girls High School 2-0 in an exciting final game. Remarkably, this is the 5th year in a row that our girls have won this event! This was a great effort in some very hot playing conditions that tested their endurance.

This tournament is very useful for the coaches to give the full squad a run and involve new and younger players before the final team selection. The girls are now looking forward to their upcoming training camp in Tauranga whilst the Boys 1st XI will be taking part in a tournament hosted by St Paul’s in Hamilton, both in the 2nd week of the April Holidays.
