About Us
Saint Kentigern College is a leading independent school for Years 7 to 13, with a strong focus on student wellbeing and a values-based community. With approximately 2,250 students, the College has a busy and well-supported Health Centre at the heart of campus life.
The Opportunity
This role offers a different pace and purpose from traditional clinical settings, combining hands-on nursing with preventative, relationship-based care in a school environment.
Working alongside the Nurse in Charge, you will be part of a multidisciplinary pastoral team supporting the health and wellbeing of students across the College.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Providing first aid and primary care to students and staff
- Supporting students with ongoing or chronic health needs
- Coordinating referrals and liaising with caregivers and external providers
- Maintaining accurate health records and supporting administrative processes
- Assisting with the smooth operation of a busy Health Centre
We are open to job share arrangements and welcome applications from candidates seeking part-week schedules.
The role is expected to commence at the start of Term 3, with the opportunity for a one-week handover in the final week of Term 2.
Why this role?
For nurses looking for balance or a move away from shift-based environments, this position offers:
- Predictable weekday hours (10.00am – 4.00pm)
- School holidays off, with annualised pay
- The opportunity to build ongoing relationships with students
- A varied caseload within a supportive team
You will bring sound clinical judgement, a calm and practical approach, and the ability to build rapport with young people.
We are looking for:
- A Registered Nurse with a current New Zealand practising certificate
- Experience in youth health, school nursing, or emergency/acute care (beneficial)
- Strong assessment and communication skills
- The ability to work collaboratively within a pastoral care setting
- A current First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Subsidised Southern Cross healthcare
- Two additional Saint Kentigern days each year
- Free on-site parking
- 4% KiwiSaver contribution
- Staff wellbeing programme
