| PASTORAL CARE
A high level of pastoral care reflects our belief that every one of our students is an important person whose development into a confident young adult requires care both in and outside the classroom.
The Deans, who lead each department of the school, are responsible for coordinating the well being of each student through the home-room teachers day-to-day pastoral care. Weekly pastoral care meetings of the management team ensure that special care, guidance and understanding are available to each student in times of need.
Each boy belongs to one of four houses: Cargill, Chalmers, Hamilton and Wishart. (House names are taken from noted Scottish martyrs of the early Church of Scotland). The houses provide a cohesive sense of identity for students as they move through the various year groups and departments of the School.
At regular house meetings the teachers and students celebrate birthdays and achievements while also planning assembly presentations, sporting events and sharing news about the World Vision child that each house sponsors. House assemblies are a must for parents, who come to see the spontaneity of presentations, plays, dances and songs proudly offered by the boys. In recent years house chants and songs have become an integral part of the enthusiastic culture at the heart of each house.
