Peer Group of 1994 Celebrates 30-Year Reunion at Bruce House

August 26, 2024 at 12:45 PM

The 30-year reunion for the College Class of 1994 recently took place, bringing together the former classmates over two timeless essentials: a shared meal and rugby. Hosted at Bruce House, the afternoon was filled with excitement as over thirty old friends reunited, some still in touch since their school days and others reconnecting for the first time in three decades.

The gathering began with a warm welcome from College Principal, Damon Emtage, who provided updates on the latest developments at the school. The group then enjoyed the opportunity to watch the 1A First XV rugby match against Auckland Grammar School—a highlight for the sports enthusiasts in attendance. As they cheered on the boys, the camaraderie that had defined their years at the College was revived, making for an unforgettable afternoon. After mingling with other alumni at the post-match gathering, the group headed out for dinner, concluding a day full of reconnection and shared memories.

Among the attendees were several past staff members, including Chris Duncan, Peter Hadfield, and Steve de Jong, who were warmly welcomed by their former students. Nigel Toy, Headmaster at the time and now the Patron of the Alumni Association, also spoke and reflected back on the years. A heartfeltthank you to Cameron Marcroft for his outstanding efforts in organising the event.

With many attendees now parents at the College, the legacy continues through the next generation. We hope that the enduring friendships and shared history formed at the College will strengthen with each passing generation.
