Girls’ School Years 4-6 Cross Country

August 21, 2017 at 3:52 PM

It was the turn of our Year 4-6 Middle School girls to run the cross country last week, joining the Boys’ School to run the course at the College. A damp, foggy start that turned to brilliant sunshine, along with a firm, flat course, provided ideal conditions for our girls to run the distance.

Taking it in turns with the Boys’ School to line up, age group by age group, the girls lined up to await the start. Recent heavy rains made a late change to the track but the new route proved favourable  – with just enough ‘squelch’ to make it challenging in places – and unfortunately suck off the odd shoe! - but otherwise an excellent track allowing the girls to record  fast times.

As always, competition was fierce amongst the leading pack as the girls dug in for House points and the chance to represent their School at zone level. Well done to all our runners for their effort and in particular the champions. Good luck to the those chosen for their zone competition.

The Senior girls ran their event earlier in the year alongside their College peer group and have already competed most favourably at zones. The Junior girls’ event will take place at the Boys’ School this week.
