The Choral Showcase, held on 22 August in the beautiful setting of the College Chapel, was a musical highlight of the year. Under the glow of the stained glass, the community gathered to hear the premiere choir Kentoris and the junior choir Musettes perform their a selection of music. This special evening also featured standout solo performances from Lincoln Jones, who captivated the audience with Empty Chairs from Les Miserables, and Xarya Knox, who delivered a stunning rendition of I Could’ve Danced All Night from My Fair Lady.
Kentoris, fresh from their success in regional competitions, performed the pieces that earned them a spot in the Big Sing National Finals. The choir also debuted new songs in preparation for the finals, leaving the audience in awe of their musical talent and precision. The evening concluded with a lively performance of Sit Down You’re Rockin' the Boat, which was met with enthusiastic applause for its humour and flawless delivery.
Kentoris continued their outstanding season at the Big Sing National Finals, securing a Silver Award for their exceptional performance. Their repertoire, including Jubilate Deo by Peter Anglea, Drop, Drop Slow Tears by Brian Webb, and Someday, I’ll Meet You Again by Max Steiner and Ned Washington, showcased their versatility and skill.
A special thank you to Director Denzel Panama, vocal coach Kate Webber, and instrumentalist Juan Kim for their contributions to a successful choral season. We are incredibly proud of all involved.
