We are honoured to present Bruce Elliott (Saint Kentigern College, 1962–1966) with the Saint Kentigern Distinguished Alumni Award for 2024. This award celebrates our alumni who have achieved professional excellence, embodied the values of Saint Kentigern, and provided leadership and inspiration to our students.
Bruce Elliot founded a software company in 1982, which he successfully managed until its acquisition by a San Diego technology firm in 1999. Subsequently, he served as Chief Operating Officer of the acquiring company, before founding another software company in 2002, which he continues to manage alongside his son.
Beyond his professional achievements, Bruce has made significant contributions to humanitarian causes. In 1998, a visit to post-Soviet Ukraine compelled him to establish the Children’s Rescue Center in Kiev, a home for street children providing food, shelter, and rehabilitation. For over twenty-five years, he sheltered up to 110 children at a time, ultimately adopting one of the young boys into their family. Bruce and his wife Anne have remained steadfast in their commitment to global service, including involvement in a refugee camp in Tijuana, Mexico, and an orphanage in Blantyre, Malawi.
Bruce and Anne now mentor and support young leaders at Light Church in Encinitas, California. Their ongoing efforts equip others to continue their work, mobilising groups of young adults to serve poor communities.
Bruce Elliott exemplifies the highest aspirations of the founders of Saint Kentigern and his career and humanitarian contributions make him a worthy recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award.
