April 20, 2017 at 8:34 AM

Congratulations to Year 10 College student, Monet Hewitt who has been awarded a two-week scholarship to the Australian Ballet School after placing 2nd at the Alana Haines Awards AHA - Australasia’s largest ballet competition.

Monet competed against 230 dancers from Australia and New Zealand, many of whom are already fulltime dance students and/or dancers. Monet attends the College Dance Academy classes held each Saturday where she is taught by former New Zealand Ballet principal dancer, Jane Turner, Head of Dance, Geordan Wilcox and fellow dance teacher, Ichiro Harada. Mr Wilcox choreographed one of the solos performed by Monet at the competition.

Monet’s placing and scholarship is a huge achievement and a step towards achieving her goal of becoming a professional ballerina.

Well done Monet and we wish you all the best for your scholarship at the Australian Ballet School!
